Matanot L'evyonim - Help for the Needy

Fulfill the mitzvah of matanot l'evyonim - help for the needy - by providing support to ALIVE! and Leket Israel. Let's rescue surplus food this Purim to feed those who need it most, both here in Alexandria and in Israel.

Fight Food Insecurity in Our Neighborhood with ALIVE!

Celebrate Purim with ALIVE! Whether you're picking up shalach manot at shul, attending the Purim Carnival, the spiel, or the morning minyan megillah reading, please bring a gift of food for our Alexandria neighbors in need. At this time, cooking oil, rice, and healthy breakfast cereals are in high demand. Reusable cloth grocery bags are always a plus.

Leket Israel: Israel's National Food Bank

This Purim, you can make a difference in the lives of thousands of Israelis in need by supporting Leket Israel, the national food bank of Israel.

Leket Israel annually rescues approximately 55 million pounds of food from hundreds of farms, hotels, corporate caterers and IDF bases across Israel that would otherwise go to waste. The food that they save is distributed weekly to over 250 non-profits that feed approximately 225,000 Israelis of all backgrounds.

For just $1 USD, you can provide 6 pounds of food for someone in need. Help spread the festive joy of Purim, prevent the needless destruction of food, and ensure that no one goes hungry this holiday season by making a donation to Leket today.
