Join Us for Our Young Families Programs!

Welcome! Young Families of Alexandria and Arlington offers a place where families raising Jewish children can meet one another, celebrate together, and build community.

In addition to Shabbat and holiday programming, we offer many other opportunities for families to "do something Jewish" with friends and neighbors. Some of these events are organized by Agudas Achim and others by volunteers. All families are welcome, regardless of synagogue membership or affiliation.

STEAM Summer Camp 2025 (public)

Grab Your Gardening Gloves!

Led by our STEAM teacher Charlotte Buckhold,

Campers will learn more about how to care for our established pollinator and herb gardens and will plant a new garden, complete with a fruit tree!
Everyone will learn the value of sh'mirat ha'adamah, caring for the earth
Every day will include a STEAM activity or craft and lots of outside play
June 16 - June 27 (no camp on Thursday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth)
Half-Day (9-1) or Full-Day (9-5) options available
For children ages 3 through 5.
STEAM Summer Camp is for children who have already turned 3 or will be turning 3 this summer.
We may offer a "Rookie Camp" for children who will be entering our 2s program in the fall (children who will turn 2 by September 30). Stay tuned for more information.

Siblings receive a 10% discount.

Young Families Shabbat Services @ 11 a.m.

Families with children birth to age five are invited to join us for this family-friendly Shabbat celebration. We gather almost every Saturday morning during the school year to celebrate Shabbat, enjoy a Torah story, and have fun with friends.

The first Shabbat of the month is led by Morah Jen; all other Shabbatot are led by trained Rhythm n' Ruach instructor Ariel Michaelson.

A New Vision for Early Childhood Education, Author Talk

Families with children birth to age five are invited to join Hazzan Diesntfrey at Fairlington park for a music-filled Sunday morning. It's a great way to introduce children to Judaism through song and a chance to connect with other families from the community.
