Special Focus 5780: Year of Song and Service

In 5780, the Social Action Committee's special focus is on a Year of Song and Service.  We have highlighted our deep partnerships with ALIVE!, Yachad, and others. 
  •    During Sukkot, we held a singalong in the sukkah on the theme of social justice and collected donations for ALIVE! 
  • On the MLK Day of Service on January 20, 2020, we packed nearly 20,000 meals for distribution locally to help families in need, while engaging with elected officials on systematic support for food insecure families. 
  • We met with our Muslim cousins in October and February, learning about similarities and differences in our traditions on forgiveness and then on the recitation and chanting of our holy texts. 
  • And in response to the COVID-19 crisis, we are collecting in-kind donations for our Latinx neighbors, sewing masks for vulnerable populations, and urging financial donations.
