A Special Russian Truth: Film and Discussion

Much of the rhetoric used to delegitimize Israel today did not emerge organically. It was engineered during the Cold War by a Soviet propaganda campaign, modernizing centuries-old antisemitic tropes and laundering them through international institutions, Arab media, and the Western academy until they became conventional wisdom. A Special Russian Truth, a 24-minute documentary by filmmaker Jim Rose, traces that lineage and gives viewers concrete tools for recognizing the inheritance in contemporary discourse.
The screening will be followed by a discussion of what that inheritance looks like on the ground — in American public conversation, on campuses, and across the Middle East — with three guests whose work sits directly on this fault line: journalists Dalia Ziada and Hayvi Bouzo, and filmmaker Jim Rose.
