Windows on Israel
Windows on Israel
February Topic:
Israel's Bedouin Challenge - a Personal and Professional Perspective:
In this month's "Window on Israel", Miri will discuss the Bedouin population in Israel, which lives mostly in the Negev and is going through dramatic changes in recent years. What are the main challenges facing the Bedouins in Israel? Why do many of them choose to serve in the IDF? And what are Bedouin women doing to improve their lives? Miri will answer these questions and also discuss her background as a social worker who worked with dozens of Bedouin foster families in the Negev.
Monthly discussion on interesting aspects of Israeli society. Topics to include: religious feminism in Israel, the generational revolution in the Bedouin community, how the Russian immigration wave transformed Israel, a personal presentation about life on the Gaza border, Israel's humanitarian involvement in the Syrian civil war, and more.
